”It’s a New Season”

by Janet Goetz

As September dawns upon us our carefree summer activities begin to wane and a new focus starts to emerge. We get back into a routine, meet new people and learn new things.  This is also true of our Church Council.  We were installed at the end of July and are beginning to come together as a team.  This newsletter represents our new season.

Our 2010-2011 goal is Y.E.S.  - Youth, Evangelism and Stewardship.  We will build a Youth program, share the word and the love of Jesus Christ through Evangelism and promote Stewardship by asking you to share your time, talents and treasures in service to the Lord.

To accomplish this goal we will be PRO-ACTIVE.

Throughout the year we will pray for guidance, keep you informed and ask for your help.

Can we do it?    Y.E.S. -  WE CAN.

Thrivent Financial for Lutherans - Care Abounds in Communities®

We have funds remaining for your projects

The Lee County Chapter of Thrivent Financial has $16,925 left in Care Abounds in Communities Funds.  These funds can be used for projects to benefit those in need outside the congregation, including Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets, projects for soup kitchens and other community agencies, etc.  In addition, one project will be allowed to match funds for your congregation’s youth group fund-raising events and for your school fund-raising events.  Grants will not exceed $600 or the actual amount raised (for fund-raisers) or spent, whichever is less.

Do you have a fundraiser or hands on service activity that you would like considered for matching funds? If so, contact your church’s Thrivent Advocate for direction.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Lee County Thrivent Financial for Lutheran’s office at (239) 277-1990.

Care Abounds in Communities gives our members and Thrivent Financial for Lutherans the opportunity to multiply the good we do by working together to make a profound impact in communities across our nation. The goal of this program is to engage more of our members, through grassroots volunteerism, to meet more needs and make a significant impact on recipients and communities nationwide.
