THE YOUTH COMMITTEE held its second official meeting and event, A Fall Extravaganza, on October 17. There were 28 children in attendance, several school parents, and quite a few congregational members as well.
The meeting began with Pastor Jerry sharing “A Pumpkin Parable” in the Chapel. Activities were set up in the cafeteria and included Pumpkin Head game, Lollipop Toss, Gourd Bowling, Pumpkin hoops, Stump the Pastor, and a Cake Walk. Jevon showed up in full dress ready to host Here Comes the Deputy. He shared with the children the responsibilities of a police officer and answered many questions. Later he gave them a tour of the police car, including a chance to sound the siren and sit in the back. The committee leaders had great fun with this as well.
The Youth Kick Off event last Sunday was a huge success! The chapel was buzzing as about fifty or more children anxiously awaited the opening. Kellie opened the meeting just after one o’clock, introduced the youth committee, explained the Messy Foods Stations, and had the children introduce themselves. After dividing the kids into groups, Pastor Jerry led in prayer and the food fun began!

The Board of Parish Education has been in the planning stages for quite some time now. Many of the new and exciting plans are now in motion. Our 2010/2011 board members are Kellie McIntosh, Kandice Cappello, Donna Jekel, Pastor Jerry, and yours truly.
This month a long awaited Youth committee was formed, yippee! I am pleased and excited to introduce our new Youth Committee, Drum roll please…. Leader – Kellie McIntosh, Members – Heather Bonsal, Pattie Lawson, Janet Goetz, and Billie Klock.
These fine (and brave) women will be developing a youth program for children ages 5 years through teens. The group will meet one Sunday a month and is open to all children. We encourage everyone to spread the word, invite children of family, friends, and neighbors to attend. Continue reading »
