THE YOUTH COMMITTEE held its second official meeting and event, A Fall Extravaganza, on October 17. There were 28 children in attendance, several school parents, and quite a few congregational members as well.
The meeting began with Pastor Jerry sharing “A Pumpkin Parable” in the Chapel. Activities were set up in the cafeteria and included Pumpkin Head game, Lollipop Toss, Gourd Bowling, Pumpkin hoops, Stump the Pastor, and a Cake Walk. Jevon showed up in full dress ready to host Here Comes the Deputy. He shared with the children the responsibilities of a police officer and answered many questions. Later he gave them a tour of the police car, including a chance to sound the siren and sit in the back. The committee leaders had great fun with this as well.
Two pumpkin contests took place simultaneously; inside paper pumpkins were being designed and outside real pumpkins carved. The church council and teachers cast votes to determine first, second, and third place winners.
Thanks to everyone that donated pumpkins, craft supplies, and snacks. The adults and children both had a great time of fellowship and fun.
The next youth meeting, A Day of Thanks, is scheduled for November 15.
